Raja had been the youngest of the 3 sons of Simon Salgado, British government Surveyor and Abeydeera Wijewickrema Punchihewage Muriel Seelawathie de Silva:

I knew Dr Lakshman Salgado , daughter is a close friends of my wife . Met Raja in Sydney many years ago .
